Where it all began

When I first arrived in Adelaide as a student, I was far from home and missing it in ways I hadn't expected. I missed the family, the food, and the colours of our festivals. I missed putting on a traditional dress and feeling like myself.

So I went looking for one. Each time, I found the same three problems. The dresses were either very expensive, not of good quality, or simply old-fashioned. It broke my heart to see so many of us skip wearing our traditional clothes, not because we didn't want to, but because we couldn't afford them. Every shop seemed to sell at a higher price than the last.

I kept thinking that it shouldn't be this hard, or this expensive, to feel connected to your culture.

Why we started

Vastralia was born from that thought. I started it to promote our traditional culture and to put beautiful, well-made clothing within reach of everyone, especially those of us living far from our country who want the same quality and the same feeling, at prices that are fair.

What we offer

We began with dresses for women, and we've grown from there. Today you'll find men's wear, jewellery, kidswear and much more, so the whole family can dress up for every celebration, big or small.

From our Adelaide store to your door

For a long time, we served our community from our store in Adelaide. Then customers from all over Australia began asking us to reach them too. That is how our website began, so we can serve you better, wherever you are.
